Why Harry Potter so popular?

I love Harry Potter. The series is fantastic. The problem is whenever I try to explain why I can not pin-point accurate responses. In your opinion, why is Harry Potter up? Or why do not you like?

I think there are many things: – The characters are interesting and the plot is exciting. This makes the book very readable. – Rowling created a world that is truly alive, interesting, and nothing like the world we know. People like to experience this world. – It is really epic – they are saving the world, people die for the cause, and so on – which is very popular these days, but at the same time, you still feel like read about real people something (The Lord of the Rings, in my opinion, has not – despite being an excellent story, a work of art, much more sophisticated than Harry Potter, etc. etc. etc.) – They use a wide range of ages. Very young children can enjoy Harry Potter (in especially the first few books, which are not so dark), but adults love them too much like me. Furthermore, Rowling got lucky and happened to record its books and make a fuss about them, and after a critical mass of people were reading them, they could not help but become popular. The same thing happens to a lot of books not-very-good (cougheragoncough), whereas many books just as good as Harry Potter goes completely unnoticed (Megan Whalen Turner verify the Thief, and other books in this series).
